My name is Kym Anderson, I was born and raised in the regional town of Mount Isa in North West Queensland - Kalkadoon Country - before moving to Brisbane in 2004 to pursue tertiary qualifications. I am a Ngawun/Yidinjdji woman from my fathers side (Atherton Tableland and Southern Cairns regions) and Finnish European on my mothers. I graduated in 2007 here at QUT with a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) in an Australian Professional Studies Major, my main focus was on Indigenous Australia: policy, practise, community and culture. After graduating I worked for a non-government agency - the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council, assisting in TAFE course development, deliverance and funding. Since March 2008, I have been posted up at Caboolture Campus as a student yarner (support and admin). I am also studying to complete a Masters of Arts (Research) degree in Indigenous history (part-time) and I like to have a yarn so come visit. |
